Downtown Pittsburgh Listing Deal You Will Want to Check Out in December
For many of us, it’s hard to pass up an opportunity to live in Downtown Pittsburgh, especially when you find an amazing deal. This is what RentHop likes to refer to internally as gems. Thanks to years of accumulated rental data, we have some of the most affordable and quality rental listings the Downtown Pittsburgh has to offer. Our inventory of listings has grown exponentially over the years, this of one our favorite deals for rental listings.
The phenomenon of low supply/inventory of available listings continues into the month of December though demand has started to wane due to seasonality and the introduction of the new Omicron coronavirus variant. As a result, rental concessions being offered by StarLoftsPgh.com are remaining steady at pre pandemic rates (on average one month free) with some buildings not even offering any. Thankfully, RentHop is still getting a great inventory of gems. Today we’ll focus on some of our favorite deals in downtown Pittsburgh this coming December!
In a smaller mid-rise, the bottom floor is really just the garden level of the building. Those buildings with a few more levels may mean the bottom consists of 1-3 stories. Regardless, living on the bottom floors provide:
Easy access both into and out of the building
A quicker trip to ground-floor amenities like common outdoor space
The ability to take the stairs all the time rather than dealing with the elevator
You also don’t have to worry about annoying a neighbor below you should you want to move furniture around, invite friends over or just tend to walk heavily.
Linguini with clams is one of the most satisfying Italian dishes to cook and eat. The fresher the clams, the more flavorsome the sauce.
LIST OF INGREDIENTS
2 LBS. of clams (Wholeys Fish Market, Strip District Pittsburgh)
11 1/2 OZ. of Barilla linguini
1 OZ. of parsley
1 of garlic clove
extra-virgin olive oil
In a large bowl or pan, soak the clams in lightly salted water for at least 2 hours; every 30 minutes, use your hands to gently drain them without stirring up any sand that has filtered to the bottom of the pan; transfer them to a plate, change the water, and add a pinch of salt. Be careful not to break the shells during this process.
Trim the parsley, removing the leaves only; wash and dry with a paper towel and finely chop. Crush and mince 1 garlic clove.
Cook spaghetti in a large pot of boiling salted water, stirring occasionally. Drain about 2 minutes before al dente. Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water.
Meanwhile, in a pan large enough to hold the clams and linguini, sauté the garlic with 4 Tbsp. oil for 30 seconds, then add the parsley.
After a few seconds, add the drained clams: cook for 1-2 minutes until they start to open, then add 3 small ladlefuls of pasta cooking water.
Drain the linguini and transfer directly to the pan with the clams. Cook until the pasta is al dente and a creamy sauce forms due to the starch being released. Add extra water pasta cooking water if needed. Top with chopped parsley to taste and serve.

Pittsburgh Public Theater has announced the organization’s 47th season – ALL ABOARD! – kicking off this October online and in person. The Public recently completed the Classics N’at online benefit reading series, the second iteration of the organization’s Public PlayTime series. After welcoming thousands of new audiences throughout the course of the past 15 months, The Public has set its sights on a triumphant return to live performance, and a season poised to be one of the most memorable yet.
The best way I’ve found to visit the Pittsburgh Arts Festival for its final days this weekend is to park your car at the Theater square parking garage all day for$3! You are then a short elevator ride from most of the best Artist purveyors at the scene. In the courtyard on 7th is Anthony all the way in the rear. He has the most well crafted back packs, purses and hand sewn leather wear that I’ve ever seen. He and his father create these practical masterpieces to be both functional and fashionable. I had to purchase the versatile brown patchwork backpack with zippers and hidden pockets galore to safely transport my laptop and any other necessities. Next stop is right next door at 7th and Penn for refreshments at Proper Brick Oven and Tap Room! There I had a delicious fresh brick Oven margarita pizza, a cold craft beer and a beautiful house salad with fresh pear slices, candied walnuts, and feta over baby bibb lettuce with a lemon vinaigrette. Yum! Now it is across the corner to the parking lot craft display across from the Benedum Theater to Thomas’s Blown glass and spun art creations! There is a reason that WGKglass is the featured artist of the whole show. These glass ornaments are Amazing! He has created colorful Dragons and awesome spiders, hummingbirds and flowers as jewelry and décor which treats the eyes with delight. The more you look, the more you see… if you can get close enough to drink it all in! The people are pleasant and courteous. I snatched up a Loch Ness sea dragon and a delicate black hand skeleton for our daughter! Everything was packed up perfectly. Too cool! Now you can easily return your treasures to your car for safe keeping and stroll down Penn Avenue to enjoy the free concerts at Point Park. There is lots more to see there and along Fort Duquesne Blvd. as you return to your car after a great day of soaking up ideas! ☆
