Allegheny County’s arts and cultural organizations are in good overall health and continue to be among the nation’s leaders in economic impact on their communities, according to a new study.

City officials are proposing a new Pittsburgh police substation in downtown Pittsburgh.

Mayor Bill Peduto and Public Safety Director William Hissrich will introduce legislation Tuesday to put a police substation on Liberty Avenue near Market Square in the Lantern building, as well as a new fire and medic station alert system. 

 Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for a symphonic reading of The Music in George’s Head: George Gershwin Creates Rhapsody in Blue by Suzanne Slade with illustrations by Stacy Innerst. The orchestra will perform this well-known music portraying George Gershwin’s creative process as the book is read aloud and the gorgeous illustrations are projected above the stage.
